 Billiard lights add great style to any game room or pool table area.  Since there is such a huge selection of lights available today, there is great opportunity to create the right atmosphere for your game room.

The selection of lights ranges from monochrome shading to multi-shaded lights.   Other popular lights are themed lights such as sports (NFL, NBA, or MLB), tiffany lights, and stained glass fixtures.  Depending on the make or design, billiard lights cost anywhere from fifty to over a thousand dollars. 

Pool table lights or billiard lights with two to three metal shades have a single bar and a bronze, brass or copper finish.  However you can find ones made with glass or leather shades.  The fixtures made with wrought iron have more of a designer look.  These lights have a black or stainless steel finish.  A hot product right now is a single bar billiard light with little pool balls inserted in them.

Stained glass pool table lights are an attractive feature to any game room or family room.  The vivid detail and three-dimensional design of these lights enhance the pool table playing area.  Choosing the best lights, however, depend on the decor of the room itself.

 As with any product, stained glass pool table lights come in many different styles and themes.  Most are arranged in three or four light stanchions (upright bars or posts).   Swag or tilted is the most common style.  Teardrop, canopy, pool shark and tiffany are other customary styles.  Fluorescent lighting is also an option with stained glass fixtures.

There are some key things to remember when hanging a  pool table light fixture.  First, illuminate just the pool table and not the whole room. Second, center the light lengthwise along the pool table.  You can use the white diamond at the end of the table to center the light.  The light should hang fairly low.  Thirty inches from the light to the table and 70 in from the floor to the light is the average distance.  If the light is too high, it gets in the player’s eye.  If it is too low, the pool cue will hit the light.  The bottom of the light should be level with the bridge of the player’s nose.

Pool tables complement game rooms, dens, and family rooms.  Good lighting is necessary for a pool table.  While lamps and overhead lights brighten the room itself, the table top area is clouded by the player’s shadow.  The right pool table lights eliminate these shadows.  Also, they may prevent angle shots  and complex plays from going sour.

Every room in a home possesses a particular ambiance.  Kitchens shine with bright colors.  Sun rooms radiate with outdoor light.  Game rooms and dens however have a different aura.  People often envision pool or billiard tables as part of pubs, night clubs or saloons.  Despite their lackluster, hazy atmosphere, people frequently gathered together as a way to unwind at the end of the day.  Good lighting for a pool table in these places was just as essential as it is now in dens and game rooms.
